MAGNUS USB - Hi-End Digital Audio Cable USB 2.0 A/B
Digital USB cable to connect DAC and Computer for listening to Hi-Fi liquid music.
The "little" prodigy.
We started developing the USB project a long time ago, and as is customary, the Magnus series is a derivation of the top-of-the-line Invictus. The Magnus USB also follows this construction philosophy, in order to guarantee certain performance for high quality systems, albeit not absolute level. We are dealing with a USB Audio cable of refined construction that shares with its big brothers the basic idea that a digital signal, in order to be transported well, must be protected from interference and enjoy excellent isolation in order to achieve smooth, precise and faithful transmission.
The sound performance is characterized by a marked improvement in the bass range, which gains depth, and by better separation in the mid-high range, which gives brightness and detail to voices. The increased control makes listening more airy and fresh. Certainly the best result is obtained with lossless source files, however the overall improvement is also noticeable in PCM and, amazingly, even with compressed formats, such as MP3.
Performance above the norm.
When it comes to USB cables, the "material" carried is the bit, that is, computer data. So although our cables are specifically for Audio, we performed precisely purely computer tests to understand the limit of our artifact. As with all digital cables, length is an enemy, and the USB 2.0 specification certifies signal transport with lengths between source and receiver devices of no more than 5 m. The Magnus USB goes far beyond these distances and could compete in some length records. We have made cables much longer than will ever be needed in Audio and performed connection tests with a Hi-Fi DAC with 96 kHz audio files and a very simple passive pen drive.
The result, a result of the inherent quality of Magnus USB, is impressive. We were able to connect the DAC up to a distance of 30 meters, playing 96 kHz files. With passive peripheral, which has no auxiliary power and has to receive the necessary power to operate right from the cable, we got up to 25 meters connected to a direct USB port on the PC. If we consider that USB cables on the market, for distances over 5 meters, must be equipped with one or more boosters, we understand from these tests the extreme ability of Magnus USB to transport computer data from one point to another.
Construction of Quality and Quantity.
What is the secret of this performance? Simple, the construction techniques and the quality of the materials used. Magnus USB has as many as 4 shields, cleverly placed so that they shield the cable from the outside, but also keep the data part well separated from the power part. Unfortunately, shielding is a bit like antibiotic, it carries both benefits and drawbacks, so we d a separate cording geometry between data and power, separating it with specific insulators and using different dielectrics to find the bestbalance point between shielding and optimal transmission.
The goal, perfectly hit, was to make a USB cable with correct impedance, low capacitance, low resistance and excellent shielding. From these assumptions, a very complexmanufacturing geometry emerged that, thanks to its balance, allowed for resounding results for this product, which exudes craftsmanship even from the connector, designed to ensure ease of grip and protection at the most delicate soldering points.
